James Ferrin LL.B
James graduated from Queens University before continuing his studies at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies. He has gained experience in Judicial Review work at the highest level challenging decisions by bodies such as The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), The Public Prosecution Service and The Secretary of State. He has sought leave to Judicially Review the decisions of the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) not to refer a case back to the Court of Appeal. The CCRC has the power to refer a case back to the Northern Ireland Court of Criminal Appeal if it believes the conviction is unsafe. James has a wealth of experience in dealing with serious criminal cases at both magistrates and crown court level. James has provided representation in prison disciplinary hearings and has experience in Parole Commission Representation.
James’s legal career has now developed into working within the substantial banking litigation department who act on behalf of local and national banks and other lending institutions. Providing advice on security, the realisation of security and repossessions, secured lending, acquisition refinancing and capital raising & refinancing.
James is also gaining a wealth of experience in our specialist defence litigation department that provides expert advice for personal injury and product liability litigation in both the High Court and County Court. Within the Litigation Department at RGS, we have a number of specialised units covering large loss, credit hire, fraud and professional negligence, including medical negligence.
James not only advises private paying clients but also those that may need to apply for legal aid to the Legal Services Agency (LSA) to take such action as they require.
Outside the office James plays for Glentoran Football Club in the Irish Premiere Division and sits on the committee for the Mencap charity.
